Back in the Race: How Henry Chung Won with the WHEELTOP EDS TT

At a Glance

Returning to racing after a major life milestone is never easy — but for Henry Chung, it marked a strong comeback. At the recent Milton Sprint Triathlon, he secured first place in the Men’s 35–39 category, proving both his fitness and bike were ready for the challenge.

In this interview, Henry shares his race experience, bike setup, and how the WHEELTOP EDS TT performed under real triathlon conditions.

Behind the Win
Henry Chung participated in the Milton Sprint Triathlon, a local event he has completed in for many years. This was also his first official race since welcoming his child last year. Ultimately, he secured first place in the men's 35-39 age group with a consistent performance.

Race-Day Performance
The race’s demanding cycling leg put the EDS TT’s real-world performance to the test.

The biggest challenge was the Sixth Line climb: 4km into the leg, it runs 1.2km with a 6.3% average gradient (14.5% max) and 88m of elevation gain. With riders still settling into their rhythm straight after the swim, brake-lever shifting is essential -and the EDS TT delivered reliable, consistent performance here.

On descents reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h, the groupset’s braking system provided effective speed control. Its ergonomic bar-end shifters were intuitive to use with fast, responsive shifts.

For Henry, two moments stood out: brake-lever downshifts kept his climbing rhythm steady, while bar-end shifts let him maintain optimal speed without compromising his aerodynamic position.

Reasons for Choosing EDS TT

Henry uses Wheeltop EDS TX groupsets on all his road bikes and values their shifting feel and reliable performance. Sticking to the Wheeltop ecosystem lets him adapt to the new groupset quickly, while the wireless front and rear derailleurs also streamline bike assembly.

Advantages Compared to Similar Products

Compared to other groupsets he has used, the EDS TT has three clear strengths: bar-end shifters with replaceable batteries for greater flexibility, a wireless design that cuts internal cabling for easy installation, and fully adjustable gearing to fit different speed setups.

Whether in training or on race day, the WHEELTOP EDS TT delivers the reliability, precision, and confidence riders need to perform at their best.
