Question 19

Rear derailleur hook compatibility description

Accepted Answer

Only applicable to non-direct mount hooks, partially compatible with UDH hooks.

Question 20

The device cannot be changed immediately after not riding for a long time.

Accepted Answer

It is not unusual for the gear system to take a moment to activate after being idle for a few days. However, there are a couple of things you can try to speed up the process:
1.Charge the System: Please ensure that the system has enough battery. Sometimes, if the battery is low, it may take a little longer to activate. Try charging the system for a while and see if that helps.
2.Shake the Frame: Gently shake the frame or move the bike to help "wake up" the rear derailleur. This can help the system become responsive more quickly.

Question 21

How to confirm that the APP is connected and the device is paired after receiving the device.

Accepted Answer

Method 1:
If the left and right hand shifters (speed levers) can control the front or rear derailleur normally (such as smooth speed change and timely response), it means that the device has been paired successfully and there is no need to rely on the APP interface to confirm.
Method 2 (APP interface verification):
Open the APP, the power of the front and rear derailleurs are displayed normally, and the hand shifter does not display 0.0v.

Question 22

After pressing the shifter lever, the rear derailleur does not shift normally.

Accepted Answer

1.Check the button indicator light: First, check if the button on the shifter is lighting up. If there is no light, please replace the battery and test again. 2.Check the light color: If the button is lit but not green (e.g., red or yellow), it means the device is not paired correctly. In this case, please follow the pairing instructions in the manual to pair the device again.

Question 23

How does the rear derailleur linkage function work when the front derailleur is on the large chainring, the rear derailleur is below the 3rd gear, and the limit function is enabled?

Accepted Answer

When the front derailleur is on the large chainring, the rear derailleur is below the 3rd gear, and the limit function is enabled, the system operates as follows:
Rear Derailleur Upshift: When you press the front derailleur to shift, the system will first execute an upshift on the rear derailleur. The rear derailleur will upshift once every 0.5 seconds.
Rear Derailleur Reaches 3rd Gear: The rear derailleur will continue to upshift until it reaches the 3rd gear.
Front Derailleur Downshift: Once the rear derailleur reaches the 3rd gear, the system will wait for 2 seconds before executing a downshift on the front derailleur.

Question 24

Is it equipped with a rear derailleur clutch adjustment function?

Accepted Answer

WHEELTOP EDS OX2.0 and GeX series are equipped with a rear derailleur clutch adjustment function.

Question 25

Rear derailleur hanger compatibility issue

Accepted Answer

The WHEELTOP rear derailleur is only compatible with non-direct-mount derailleur hangers. Using a direct-mount hanger could lead to improper alignment and affect performance. UDH Compatibility The WHEELTOP rear derailleur is partially compatible with Universal Derailleur Hangers (UDH). However, its performance may vary depending on the specific bike frame design. Certain frames might require adjustments or may present limitations for optimal performance. To ensure proper compatibility with your bike frame: If your bike uses a non-direct-mount derailleur hanger, it should work without issue. If your bike uses a UDH, please check if the frame design allows smooth operation of the WHEELTOP derailleur. If necessary, adjustments may be required. If you encounter any compatibility issues or need further assistance, we recommend reaching out to the bike manufacturer or contacting our support team. We are happy to assist you with additional guidance or recommendations to ensure your setup works optimally.

Question 30

How to make adjustment to the rear derailleur?

Accepted Answer

Install the front derailleur (FD) and rear derailleur (RD), but do not mount the chain.Select the correct number of cassettes in the WHEELTOP app:Go to Equipment Debugging > Replace Cassette > Cassette Speed, and choose the correct number of cassettes.Initial Calibration of RD:The groupset arrives in the default position: the largest front chainring for the FD and the smallest rear cassette for the RD. Please do not adjust the FD or RD before setting up the groupset.Open the WHEELTOP app, navigate to Equipment Debugging > Initial Calibration, and use the '<' or '>' buttons to align the RD pulleys with the smallest cassette. Refer to the picture below for the correct position.Note: Only perform the initial calibration when the RD is in the default position. If not, the RD may become stuck and unable to shift. If the RD is stuck, use the initial calibration '<' or '>' buttons to return it to the default position.Mount the Chain.Adjusting RD Shifting / Fine-tuning RD:Rack the bike and ensure the chain is constantly moving while operating the RD to change gears. If you hear any unusual sounds during shifting, fine-tuning is necessary. If there are no sounds, no adjustments are needed.Open the WHEELTOP app. Navigate to Equipment Debugging > Fine-tuning Gear > Rear.If shifting from gear 1 to 2 requires more than one lever click, select '2 Files' and gradually increase the value (by 5 or 10) until shifting is smooth and noise-free. After adjusting the value in the app, operate the shifters or controller to apply the changes. If the RD jumps from gear 1 to 3, decrease the '2 Files' value accordingly. Again, operate the shifters or controller after making this adjustment.Repeat this process for each cassette until the RD shifts smoothly.RD Limit Screws 'D':The position of the limit screw described below is a recommendation. Please adjust based on actual conditions. While the RD is positioned at the smallest cassette, adjust screw 'D' until it makes contact with the RD, then turn it back by a quarter turn. (Refer to the picture below.)RD Limit Screws 'E':Adjust the screw 'E' while the RD is in the position of the biggest cassette, until the screw 'E' makes contact with RD, then turn it back for a quarter. (You could refer to the picture below)Adjusting the FDEnsure the chain is on the largest gear of the rear cassette and the largest chainring at the front. While keeping the FD on the largest front chainring, shift the RD and check if the chain rubs against the FD.If there is a chain rub, use the limit screw to adjust the FD's guide plates. Aim for a 0.5mm gap between the chain and the inner guide plate. (Note: The user manual and app may indicate a clearance of 3.5-5mm when the chain is not engaged, but the desired clearance while the chain is on is 0.5mm.)Shift the FD to ensure it changes gears smoothly.

Question 31

What's the rear derailleur gear protection?

Accepted Answer

This function requires advanced account permissions. If you wish to adjust this feature, please contact service@wheeltop.com with your app account details. The default setting is designed to prevent chain rub against the FD. When the FD is set to the smaller chainring, the RD will automatically avoid shifting to the smallest two cogs (the first and second cassettes) to prevent cross-chaining.To disable this protective setting and allow the RD to shift to all cogs regardless of the FD position: Open the app and navigate to Preferences > Rear Derailleur Shift Protection.Note: Disabling this feature may increase the risk of chain rub. Please proceed with caution.

Question 38

Oil filling or exhaust

Accepted Answer

Dear，Thank you for your inquiry about the bleeding process and accessories for our hydraulic disc brake assembly. We appreciate your interest in our products and are happy to provide the information you need. Our hydraulic disc brake kits come pre-filled with oil in the brake lines, so there is no need for bleeding or refilling before use. You can install and use them directly upon receiving them. However, if you experience insufficient braking force, you may need to add oil.The bleeding process for our hydraulic disc brakes follows a similar procedure to Shimano's hydraulic disc brakes. You can refer to Shimano’s standard bleeding process for guidance.Regarding accessories, each hydraulic disc brake assembly includes an accessory bag containing the necessary olives and pins for installation. However, a bleeding kit is not included in the package. If you require a bleeding kit for maintenance, we recommend EZMTB’s bleeding kits, which are fully compatible with our hydraulic disc brake system. For your convenience, we have provided a reference video on the bleeding process:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uwKr0zMBEYrqH8rG_yuo_185kmlkWLqy/view?usp=sharingIf you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.
